The Week: Media News - OFT to probe online ads

The Office of Fair Trading is launching an investigation into online targeted advertising and price comparison sites.

According to the OFT, the probe is taking place because of the need to examine harm to consumers that arises from "potentially misleading advertising and pricing" on the internet. The findings of the study could lead to a new industry code of practice being drawn up.
