The Week: Media News - Online display feels pinch

Online display advertising in the UK is set to fall this year before recovering next year as the growth of revenues from search advertising continue to dominate the sector, according to figures from the IAB Europe Ad Ex forecast.

UK online display advertising will fall 6 per cent in 2009 before climbing 3 per cent next year. Search revenues will grow by 3 per cent this year and 4 per cent in 2010. The overall online economy in the UK will fall 0.4 per cent in 2009, but grow 2.4 per cent next year. Mobile ad revenues are also expected to grow this year and next.
