The Week: Media News - Standard sees sales rise

The Evening Standard fought back against the London freesheets in May, according to the latest Audit Bureau of Circulation figures. The paper recorded a 2.75 per cent rise in circulation to 273,537 copies compared with April sales, although this still represents a drop on its six-month average. Of the national newspapers, The Independent and the Independent on Sunday suffered the biggest falls, down 1.63 per cent to 251,977 and 14.46 per cent to 209,418 copies respectively.
