The Week: Media news - Sun sales down for August

August's ABCs saw The Sun record a drop in year-on-year circulation for the first time in six months, down 0.29 per cent year on year to 3,148,792.

The Daily Express was the worst-performing newspaper in any sector; its circulation fell 9.53 per cent year on year to 748,664. All the quality dailies also registered year-on-year falls in circulation for August, with The Guardian seeing the biggest decline with a drop of 6.51 per cent to 332,587. The Financial Times had the smallest loss, recording a fall of 2.17 per cent to 417,570 (127,993 in the UK). In the Sunday market, The Independent on Sunday fell to its lowest ever monthly circulation figure of 196,752, a fall of 7.03 per cent year on year.
