The Week: Media news - TV submits first bids to Uefa

Broadcasters have delivered their first-round bids to Uefa for the television rights to Champions League games.

The bids submitted by the BBC, ITV, five and the pay-TV operators Setanta and Sky mark the first stage in the battle to air three years of European football from the start of the 2009/10 season. The bidding war is expected to attract offers of up to £450 million. The rights are currently shared between Sky and ITV.
