The Week: Media News - Virgin to slash workforce

Virgin Media has announced plans to axe around 15 per cent of its workforce, equivalent to up to 2,200 jobs, by 2012 as part of a restructure that aims to save £120 million a year.

The majority of the changes should be in place by the end of 2010. Neil Berkett, the Virgin Media chief executive, said: "These changes are critical to ensuring Virgin Media is positioned to compete effectively and deliver on our customers' changing expectations."
