The Week: Online News - More women on the net

Ofcom's latest report, the UK Communications Market survey, has revealed that women aged between 25 and 34 spend 20 per cent more time online than their male counterparts. It also found that the over-50s now account for nearly 30 per cent of the total time spent on the internet. TV is still the most popular medium, although time spent watching it fell by 4 per cent during 2006 to three hours and 36 minutes, compared with 2002. Average daily internet use was up by 158 per cent over the four years to 36 minutes, while time spent on mobile phones increased by 58 per cent to almost four minutes per day.
