The Week: People News - Govt urged to tackle piracy

Six leading media executives have called on the Government to introduce legislation to combat internet piracy, which they say costs the TV industry around £500 million each year.

The group has urged Lord Carter to include draft legislation in his final Digital Britain report, which will be published in June, to tackle breaches of copyright rules. The consortium wants the Government to introduce legislation to ensure that internet service providers collect data on users who breach copyright rules to tackle peer-to-peer file-sharing.
