The Week: People news - Johnson hits out at critics

Luke Johnson, the chairman of Channel 4, warned advertising's critics to back off at ISBA's annual lunch this week.

He emphasised TV's importance as a marketing medium, and criticised the "intellectual elite" who feel "a compulsion to patronise certain elements of society and try to micromanage their lives in every aspect". He said people would "continue to indulge in these sorts of vices, whatever the do-gooders say".
