The Week: People News - Lebedev delays paying staff

Alexander Lebedev, the owner of the London Evening Standard, has had to postpone paying staff on his Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta after running into financial problems.

Lebedev was forced to delay paying 120 journalists on the paper because of business issues with Blue Wings, the German airline that he owns. The financial problems are not expected to affect the London Evening Standard, which Lebedev bought for £1 from the Daily Mail & General Trust in January.
