The Week: People news - Owner set to float Standard

Alexander Lebedev, the new owner of the Evening Standard, is considering floating the newspaper on the Stock Exchange to allow staff to buy shares in the title.

The move is intended to motivate editorial staff to produce a "better paper" and turn the paper's decline around. Lebedev bought a 75.1 per cent share of the Evening Standard this year for £1 from Associated Newspapers.
