The Week: People news - Shaps' successor unveiled

Peter Fincham, the former BBC 1 controller, who was forced to resign over the "Queengate" affair, is to replace Simon Shaps as the director of television at ITV.

Shaps will stay on to hand over to Fincham, who is due to join in May. He will take control of ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4. The broadcaster has also extended the contract of Michael Grade, the executive chairman, by one year to the end of 2010. Also, Dawn Airey, the content head, and Rupert Howell, the commercial head, have both been promoted to its executive board.
