Sir Martin Sorrell, the chief executive of WPP, has played down claims that marketers are ready to invest more in their brands, despite the improving mood within the industry. In interviews with the Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal, Sorrell warned that people are fastening on to positive figures far too quickly simply because they are too eager to find signs of improvements.
