The Week: UK adspend falls to £18.6bn

UK advertising expenditure fell by 4 per cent to £18.6 billion in 2008, new figures released by the Advertising Association have shown.

Two key sectors did experience a rise in expenditure, with online adspend increasing by 19.1 per cent, and cinema recording a small rise of 1.1 per cent. The greatest amount of spending is still in the press sector, with £6.8 billion spent during the year. Television received £4.5 billion, with the internet in third place with £3.6 billion.
