The Week: UPS hands $200m global ad business to Ogilvy Group

UPS, the world's largest package delivery company, has appointed Ogilvy Group to handle its $200 million global advertising business.

Its sister WPP agency Maxus will handle media after a pitch against Euro RSCG, which partnered with MPG, and Young & Rubicam, which partnered with Wunderman and Mindshare.

JWT also pitched for the business, but last week announced that it was pulling out of the process over apparent frustrations with the client's handling of the review. The pitch was called in April and UPS brought in AAR to help co-ordinate the process.

Ogilvy will create a series of campaigns in order to help UPS, which has used the actor Jean Reno in previous campaigns, build its brand among the business community.

Christine Owens, the senior vice-president, communications and brand management at UPS, said: "Ogilvy is the right strategic partner because its ideas reflect UPS's culture and business."
