Western hires Mark Savage to head Weetabix account

Western Media has hired an account director to work on its Weetabix account.

Western Media has hired an account director to work on its Weetabix

account.

Mark Savage will report to deputy managing director Pru Parkinson, and

has the added responsibility for the Brands Hatch account and for

generating new business.

’The Weetabix account has been without a senior person since media

manager Emily Abram left to go travelling some months ago,’ said

Parkinson.

In the interim, media planner Ben Willee has been handling the account,

reporting to Parkinson.

Parkinson said the new role had been elevated to account director level

to take account of the extra responsibilities.

Savage, 31, started his media career at Carat in 1994 and progressed

through the company to become press manager. He left Carat to work at

Motive as associate director, where he handled the Whitbread account. He

left at the end of 1999.

Savage then spent three months at Manning Gottlieb Media as associate

director, where he worked on the Sony PlayStation business.

He joins Western after several months travelling.

Weetabix spent pounds 10 million last year (AC Nielsen MMS) through

Western. Most went on TV, although outdoor took a significant chunk.
