Russell takes over from William 'Buz' Sawyer, who departed the agency in July to take up the position of managing director of Lowe & Partners/SMS San Francisco.

As Amsterdam MD, Russell will be responsible for managing all W&K European activities, including Nike, Heineken and international Coca-Cola projects.

Prior to running W&K's Microsoft business, Russell spent eight years working on the Nike account, most notably as global account director from 1993 to 1996.

Russell began his career in 1978 at BBDO/West Los Angeles and also spent time at Saatchi & Saatchi/Torrance before moving to W&K.
