- Amy Lawson, marketing director at WCRS has resigned from the agency and will join Wieden & Kennedy as its new managing director.

Lawson (previously Smith) resigned to Robin Wight, the agency's chairman, last week and will join W&K on 7 August. She will replace Hugh Derrick who resigned from the agency this month less than a year after joining from Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.

"I was attracted to W&K because of their independence and ability to create work for clients like Nike that truly amazes people," said Lawson. "W&K has not found an expression of Wieden values that is right for this market. My job is to create an environment that nurtures happy people and clients." The appointment was made by Dave Luhr, W&K's chief operating officer who said: "Amy was the only candidate I met where I met an immediate sense of relief. She understands London and what it takes to be competitive in this market. We continue to be very confident about our future in London."

Amy joined WCRS three years ago from McCann Erickson where she was marketing director. Prior to that she worked at Simons Palmer.
