The World: Amsterdam - RTL TV channels fined for breaking ad limits

The Dutch Media Commission has fined three RTL-owned commercial TV channels for repeatedly exceeding advertising broadcast limits.

The RTL channels Yorin, Net5 and Veronica were fined between P50,000 and P120,000 each for contravening Dutch media law by airing more than 12 minutes of commercials an hour.

Net5 received the highest fine, for exceeding the limits on advertising in its children's programming.

Dutch law allows broadcasters a maximum of 12 minutes of advertising an hour. Broadcasters are permitted to interrupt films only once every 45 minutes.
