The World: Amsterdam Warburg Pincus and Cinven acquire Casema

Two private equity companies, Warburg Pincus and the Cinven Group, have won the auction for Casema, the Dutch cable television company.

The two parties jointly put in a EUR2.1 billion bid for the business.

The move means the US company Warburg Pincus has more than quadrupled its TV business in The Netherlands after last year's acquisition of Multikabel. Casema has 1.3 million customers on its cable-TV network.

Goldman Sachs was running the auction on behalf of Casema's owners, the US-based private equity companies Providence Equity and the Carlyle Group, both of which have 48 per cent shares in the business.
