The World: Ankara Hurriyet announces Trader Media East takeover

Hurriyet, the Turkish publishing house, has declared its intention to become an international media player with the acquisition of Trader Media East.

A leading provider of print and online classified advertising, TME operates in Russia, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Lithuania. It publishes 256 weekly and daily newspapers and magazines with a total weekly readership of five million and hosts 12 websites that attract around 4.6 million monthly users.

Vuslat Dogan Sabanci, Hurriyet's chief executive, said: "This acquisition will elevate Hurriyet into one of the largest regional players and into a regional leader, generating 35 per cent of its revenues outside Turkey."
