The World: Barcelona - Clear Channel raises number of Smartbikes

Clear Channel Outdoor is to quadruple the number of Smartbikes it supplies to the city of Barcelona.

The first bikes were operational in the city in March, with more than 90,000 people signed up to them.

Clear Channel Outdoor introduced its first public bike programme in Rennes ten years ago. It has since been extended to cities such as Oslo, Stockholm and Washington.

Paul Meyer, Clear Channel Outdoor's global president, said: "Our programme dovetails with the existing public transport infrastructure, improves journey times and complements policies to reduce city-centre congestion and carbon emissions."
