The World: Brussels - Howell to succeed Best as next EACA president

Rupert Howell (pictured), the regional director and president, EMEA, of McCann Worldgroup, is to be the next president of the European Association of Communication Agencies.

He succeeds James Best, the chief strategic officer at DDB Worldwide, who steps down after two years.

The EACA was set up to represent the interests of full-service and media agencies across the continent and to raise awareness of advertising's contribution to a free-market economy.

Howell joined McCann in October 2003 to help rejuvenate its flagging London agency. He was recently given expanded region-wide management responsibilities.
