The World: Canberra - Watchdog slams Tourism Australia over pitch

Tourism Australia has been criticised by an Australian Government watchdog for lack of transparency in its 2005 pitch and for not evaluating campaign effectiveness sufficiently.

The Australian National Audit Office identified three shortcomings in the process that led to the appointment of M&C Saatchi and Carat. The office cited a lack of transparency in evaluating tenders and not addressing service requirements comprehensively; insufficient consideration of the financial viability of those tendering and the fact the campaign work started before creative and media contracts were in place.
