The World: Chicago - Mediaedge:cia absorbs Citigroup business

Citigroup is consolidating the media planning and buying on its $100 million business into WPP's Mediaedge:cia.

Fallon handled the creative account for seven years before losing it to its sister network, Publicis, in April.

The moves follow a series of changes at Citigroup that shifted the majority of its global creative account from Fallon to Publicis after announcing plans for more than 17,000 layoffs.

Citigroup spent almost $15 million on magazine advertising last year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus. It spent a further $20 million on newspapers.
