The World: Dubai - Mediaedge:cia lands Canon Middle East brief

Mediaedge:cia has been selected to handle Canon's media business in the Middle East after a six-way pitch.

The win sees the WPP-owned agency extend its relationship with the electronics giant, for which it has worked in 19 countries for the past seven years.

Last year, Canon spent more than $4 million on advertising in 16 markets in the Middle East, North Africa and the Levant. Yves-Michel Gabay, the MEC international business and development director for the region, said the agency was "well placed to achieve Canon Middle East's goal to further cement its leading brand position".

Mohamed Salama, the Canon Middle East regional head of marketing, praised Mediaedge's "creative energy ... providing a strategic way forward for our media communications".
