Channel 6 is looking to add a 24-hour music channel as well as Channel 6+1, a second channel that will broadcast its normal entertainment programming with a one-hour delay. It aims to get the channels on air by early 2007.
Since its launch in March, only ntl and Chorus have distributed the channel.
It has failed to agree a deal with Sky, which has prevented it from reaching more than half its potential 16- to 34-year-old target audience.
However, Gary Power, the chief executive of Saor Communications in Dublin, said Channel 6 was going in the right direction and is delivering an audience share of around 1 per cent.
