Elite Coffee - Shalmor Avnon Amichay/Y&R Israel An innocent request by a diplomat in Soviet Russia for a Turkish coffee in "a small glass, no?" sparks a major political crisis when his political bosses think he is spilling the beans on glasnost. The spot for Elite Coffee from Shalmor Avnon Amichay/Y&R shows the hapless official whisked off to the ministry to explain himself, but he just manages to dig himself into a deeper hole. It is only when he's sitting in front of the man at the top, a fellow coffee connoisseur, that the matter is resolved amicably and he is spared a trip to the Gulag.

Bell BMX - Crispin Porter & Bogusky US

The print campaign from Crispin Porter & Bogusky for Bell BMX helmets is based on the traditional Haitian voodoo paintings that are designed to ward off evil thoughts. The ads were painted by local Miami sign painters and aim to dispel any doubts riders might have when they are pulling off tricks and stunts.

Bubblicious - J. Walter Thompson US

J. Walter Thompson's campaign for the bubble gum Bubblicious intends to relaunch the brand with a new image that, somewhat prosaically, "spans the bubblegum and sugar-based candy segment". The solution? Introduce a new face for the gum, the NBA rookie of the year, LeBron James. The 20-year-old Cleveland Cavaliers sensation (who habitually chews the gum while he is playing) appears in a series of print executions. It is the first campaign for Bubblicious in seven years and is the gum's first pro-athlete sponsorship deal. James also adorns a poster on the side of a building in Times Square, New York, which features an enormous inflatable bubble that grows and deflates from his mouth.

Smith's Crisps - Clemenger BBDO Australia

Clemenger BBDO's spot for Smith's Feta and Herb flavour crisps will do little to boost Australian-Greek relations before the Olympics. A group of Greek-looking workmen sit around a building site enjoying a leisurely lunch (crisps included). As the camera pans back, it transpires the men are sitting in a half-finished stadium where a group of runners have to negotiate wheelbarrows and bags of cement in addition to the more traditional hurdles.
