The World: Hong Kong - M&C Saatchi nets $8m project for Union Square

M&C Saatchi has been awarded a two-year, $8 million project to entice shoppers to the city's Union Square commercial development.

The agency was chosen from a shortlist of four that included Bates, DDB and Leo Burnett.

The project will consist of a combination of trade and consumer marketing that will gather momentum leading up to the Union Square opening in 2008.

M&C Saatchi has also been briefed to convince department stores, retailers and restaurants to sign up to the development.

The $10 billion shopping complex will cover 12 million square feet, but is already facing serious competition from three other developments under construction in Hong Kong.
