The World: Hong Kong - Restructure leads to job losses at Star Asian

Star Asian, the News Corporation-owned television operation, is expected to announce a number of job cuts in Hong Kong after a restructure of the company.

The pay-TV broadcaster is initiating a reshuffle of its operations in an effort to cut costs and consolidate any overlapping in the network.

The company has said that it believes the process, which is due to take a number of months, will allow it to use 2010 to take better advantage of the opportunities that arise within the region. Star currently operates 60 channels in 12 different languages, and is distributed across 53 Asian countries.
