The World: Jakarta - McCann probed over illegal use of logos in trade ad

McCann Erickson has found itself in hot water over a trade ad that features the logos of a number of its rival agencies.

The Indonesia Advertising Agencies Association is investigating the ad after complaints were made that alleged an illegal use of the logos and comparative advertising took place.

The ad in question depicts a brown cardboard box with the logos of nine agencies - Publicis, Ogilvy & Mather, Saatchi & Saatchi, JWT, Leo Burnett, Dentsu, Lowe, DDB and Euro RSCG - all printed inside the box, while the McCann logo is shown on the outside of the box.

The association's ethics committee has declared that the ad is in violation of the industry bans on comparative advertising and on the use of logos without permission.
