The World: Johannesburg - CNBC launches African business channel

The global business broadcaster CNBC has teamed up with African Business News to launch the first regional business channel for sub-Saharan Africa.

Initially, CNBC Africa will carry six hours of dedicated African programming each weekday. This will include financial news, interviews and CNBC's signature share-ticker of live stock prices.

It will broadcast free to air for 24-hours a day and will also show programmes produced by other CNBC regions.

Zafar Siddiqi, the chairman of African Business News, said: "Our aim is to provide our viewers with independent news and analysis that will enable them to make informed decisions when doing business in Africa."
