The World: Kuala Lumpur - Agencies pull out of Maybank Fortis pitch

Four agencies have pulled out of a pitch for the Maybank Fortis insurance business in Malaysia, after the company refused to pay the pitch fee required by the country's agency trade body.

The company is said to be redrafting its shortlist now that DDB International, Bates Asia, McCann Erickson and Sales Plus, a Grey subsidiary, have pulled out.

Pitch fees were introduced by the Malaysian Association of Advertising Agencies last year.

Larger advertises must pay £1,400 to each competing agency. Smaller advertisers must pay £736.
