The World: Kuala Lumpur - Media Prime set to buy NTV7 TV network

The Malaysian media giant Media Prime is poised to purchase the debt-laden TV network NTV7, a move that will give Media Prime control of 90 per cent of local TV adspend.

The sale will give Media Prime four free-to-air channels, including the market leader, TV3, 8TV and the previously defunct Channel 9, a station the company purchased last year and which it intends to relaunch in June 2006.

NTV7 is a niche channel in Malaysia. Launched in 1998, the station broadcasts current affairs and family entertainment under the strapline:"Your feel-good channel."
