The World: Los Angeles - Jenny Craig account goes out to pitch

Jenny Craig, the nutrition company that turned weight loss into a booming industry, is putting the creative assignment on its $70 million US account out to pitch.

JWT New York, which has handled the business for the past three years, is not expected to repitch. Media, which is handled by Carat out of its office in Santa Monica, is not affected.

JWT won the business from the California-based agency Johnson/Ukropina in a four-way pitch that included Bartle Bogle Hegarty. Since then, the company's advertising has been fronted by the actresses Kirstie Alley and Valerie Bertinelli.

Jenny Craig, which was acquired by Nestle for $600 million last summer, offers weight-loss plans and meals in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
