World: Los Angeles - Universal ties up VW product placement deal

NBC Universal and Volkswagen have signed a $200 million global marketing alliance across Europe and the US.

VW cars will feature in Universal films and will have a presence at Universal premieres and theme parks. VW will open an office at Universal Studios to work with writers and will have a representative on set during filming.

The alliance also extends to videos and DVDs, and the pair will work together to develop original TV programming ideas.
