The World: Michigan - State schools may use ads on buses to fund fuel

A number of Michigan state school districts are in talks with marketing groups to display ads in their buses.

The news comes as rising fuel costs mean schools are struggling to cope with the costs of transportation.

Ads must be "age and subject appropriate", and must be placed inside the buses, as it is illegal to advertise on the outside of them in Michigan.

School-bus ads have been tried in the state in the past, but the programme was discontinued after disappointing returns.
