The World: Milan - Mediaset acquires Serie A analogue television rights

The Italian commercial broadcaster Mediaset has acquired the analogue television rights for Italian football's top league, Serie A.

The private network, which is owned by Silvio Burlesconi, will obtain the rights to show a selection of live games, as well as highlights, match summaries and a game preview magazine programme. The programmes can be broadcast every Sunday between 1.30pm to 10.30pm.

The acquisition of the rights to the Serie A football championship is part of a Mediaset strategy to increase the amount of sport on the channel. Last year, it launched an innovative scratch-card pay-per-view system for a select range of Serie A matches.
