World: Milan - Red Cell Italy appoints De Martini as chief executive

Alberto De Martini, the former chief executive of De Martini & C., has been appointed to run Red Cell Italy. De Martini was the founder of the Italian hotshop Tonic in the early 80s, and went on to win a string of awards for campaigns for clients including Vespa/Piaggio and Black & White.

The agency later changed its name to Ata Tonic, then became the Havas-controlled De Martini & C.

"Alberto's appointment is a coup for Red Cell," Amanda Walsh, the European chief executive of the Red Cell network, commented. "The strength of the network lies within all of the individual local agencies."

De Martini joins the creative directors Pino Rozzi and Roberto Battaglia at Red Cell. Italy clients include Alfa Romeo, Gruppo Campari, Sky and Tele+.
