The World: Moscow - Dentsu poised to reopen Moscow office

The Japanese media giant Dentsu is set to reopen its Moscow office four years after it suspended operations in the Russian capital.

It cited the stagnant economic conditions that prevailed after the collapse of the former Soviet Union as the reason for the closure.

A Dentsu statement claimed: "The Russian economy has been showing steady growth. Against a backdrop of rising incomes and increased consumption, there has been a rapid expansion in the scale of the domestic advertising market."

A number of Japanese companies are currently expanding operations in Russia, with a corresponding increase in Japanese adspend in the country and surrounding nations.
