The World: Nairobi - Leo Burnett fends off three for Orange's Kenya brief

Orange has appointed Leo Burnett to handle the advertising for its September launch in Kenya.

The agency won the contract after a four-way pitch against Ogilvy, Saatchi & Saatchi and JWT.

Orange's launch in Kenya comes six months after France Telecom, the owner of Orange, bought a 51 per cent stake in the local provider, Telkom Kenya.

Stiff competition in Africa means that telecom operators are now the biggest advertisers in Kenya.
