The World: New York - Agencies to pitch for $780m Sears media brief

Sears, the US retailing giant, has called a review of its $780 million media buying and planning account, citing a need to "improve efficiency and effectiveness".

The review includes the media assignments for both Sears Roebuck and Kmart. Planning and buying for both traditional and online media are up for grabs.

Sears' current agencies, MindShare and MEC Interaction, both owned by WPP, will contest the business.

MindShare has handled all of Sears' traditional media buying since 2000. MEC has held the interactive business for the past five years.
