The company's service, which will be subscription-based and called Amazon DV, will require users to install software on their computers that will then allow them to download TV and video footage. The content will be 100 per cent ad-free.
The majority of US TV networks have been working closely with Amazon for the past year as the company prepares its service. However, ABC is yet to sign up. A spokesman for the broadcaster said the companies were not close to any kind of deal.
