The World: New York - Best Buy appoints BBDO to $200m creative task

Best Buy, the largest consumer electronics chain in the US, has picked BBDO New York to handle its account, which is said to be worth between $170 million and $200 million.

BBDO beat its fellow Omnicom shop GSD&M in Austin, Texas, and Crispin Porter & Bogusky in Miami - a Best Buy roster shop - to win the business.

Best Buy, which has more than 1,150 outlets in the US, Canada and China, previously handled most of its brand advertising in-house.

David Lubars, the chairman and chief creative officer of BBDO North America, said: "We're psyched and humbled by Best Buy's confidence in us."
