The World: New York - Crunch sees 4As abandon planning conference

The American Association of Advertising Agencies has cancelled its 2009 planning conference because of the difficult economic conditions.

Nancy Hill, the president of the 4As, notified members by e-mail that the conference was to be postponed this year, stating that the recession meant that cancellation was the only appropriate course of action.

Hill's comments came after attendance at the 4As' media conference in March was down by more than 10 per cent.

However, despite the setback, Hill promised members that a "new" planning conference would be relaunched next year.
