The World: New York - Discover Financial reviews $85m media account

Discover Financial, America's sixth-largest credit card issuer, is reviewing its $85 million media planning and buying business.

Starcom, the Publicis Groupe-owned incumbent, is understood not to be defending the business because of conflict with its $250 million Bank of America account.

Industry sources expect the review to be contested by the Aegis Group's Carat and The Martin Agency, an Interpublic subsidiary that won Discover Financial's creative brief two years ago.

Discover, which is owned by Morgan Stanley, accounted for less than 5 per cent of purchase volume in 2007.
