The World: New York - Dow Jones moves to compact WSJ Europe and Asia

In an attempt to cut costs, all 17 editions of The Wall Street Journal across Asia and Europe will be moved to a compact format from October this year.

Dow Jones, the owner of the paper, believes the change in size will lead to savings of £17 million annually. The compact paper will contain more regionally relevant content, as well as more statistics and links to the website.

The Asian Wall Street Journal will also change its name, becoming The Wall Street Journal Asia.

The publisher is also planning to launch a weekend edition of the US version, which will go on sale on 17 September.
