The World: New York - Fortune and CNN merge business websites

The Time Warner brands Fortune and CNN are merging their online business services under the banner. The joint venture will be launched in January 2006.

The website will incorporate content from CNN- and Fortune-branded sites, including, and, and will include daily news, market analysis, stock market news and comment.

According to Nielsen/NetRatings, the total number of users for the combined sites in July was 9.2 million.

Vivek Shah, the general manager of the Fortune/Money group, will oversee business operations, while Chris Peacock, the executive editor of, will handle the editorial content.
