The World: New York - IPG removes Dooner and Bell from the IPG board

Interpublic is shrinking its board of directors from ten to eight, with David Bell and John Dooner (pictured), two former chief executives of Interpublic, losing their positions, according to a letter sent to shareholders and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The letter also urged shareholders to vote against the recent proposal to sell the company.

In a statement, Interpublic said: "In 2002, Interpublic moved towards a board made up primarily of outside directors. In keeping with best practices in corporate governance, we are now moving to a board made up solely of independent directors, other than the company's chief executive officer (Michael Roth)."
