The World: New York - NBC sells four-fifths of next year's Super Bowl ads

NBC has sold more than 80 per cent of its available ad inventory for next year's Super Bowl, the broadcaster has said.

"About a dozen or so advertisers" have already agreed to pay around $3 million for a 30-second spot during the programme, which will be broadcast live from Tampa, Florida, on 1 February 2009.

NBC, which will be airing the American Football match for the first time in 11 years, is said to be "pleasantly surprised" with the eagerness with which the advertisers have taken up its offer.

Fox charged $2.7 million for 30 seconds of ad time during last year's Super Bowl show.
